Bio as A Teacher |
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that we are the instruments of music itself. Although we re-create music in our interpretation of it, performers ultimately are second to the beauty, insight, and wonder that is the music itself. It is my hope that my students will recognize this as they progress in their studies and thereby define success not by external rewards but rather on their own terms as being part of something larger and more mysterious which only music can provide.
To do so, I emphasize the efficient use of our body in a natural way to produce the artistry. In my teaching, I focus not only on the physical technique of performance but also on the historical and theoretical aspects of music. I want my students to acquire an understanding of musical language and know the true meaning of music performance. Ultimately, I want foster individual personal growth and a love of music in my students.
